Hi, I'm Gwyneth (Gwyn) Herrera, an Associate Clinical Social Worker dedicated to providing empathetic,
trauma-informed, and culturally responsive psychotherapy. I specialize in supporting individuals, couples,
and families navigating complex trauma, identity exploration (LGBTQ+, gender, and beyond),
neurodiversity, and non-traditional relationship structures. My goal is to cultivate an inclusive,
compassionate environment where you feel truly seen, heard, and supported as you navigate life's
transitions and challenges.
My Approach
My therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and relational. I believe therapy should be a space where you
can bring your full, authentic self without fear of judgment. I ground my practice in attachment and
relational theories while integrating values and mindfulness-based modalities. Rather than a one-size-
fits-all approach, I tailor our sessions to your unique brain, lived experience, and personal goals, helping
you build resilience and self-compassion.
My Focus
In our work together, I use an approach that balances deep, insight-oriented exploration with immediate, practical change. Rather than just managing surface-level symptoms in the present, I believe true healing requires understanding the roots that brought you to this point. We will take a close look at specific life situations to uncover the relational patterns and underlying triggers driving your distress. Then, alongside this profound work, we will implement concrete, actionable behavioral strategies to provide immediate relief and help you manage daily life with greater agency and alignment.
My Communication
Style
I bring a grounded, empathetic, and direct presence to our work together. Clients describe my communication style as validating, interactive, and transparent. I balance deep active listening and gentle curiosity with actionable skills and psychoeducation, ensuring you feel actively partnered with throughout your healing process.
My Journey
In my journey toward social work, I was driven by a fundamental desire to turn helping others into my life's career. I eventually chose the mental health field as I began recognizing how profoundly my own childhood experiences and mental health had shaped me. Engaging in my own deep trauma work became a turning point-not only did it bring personal healing, but it sparked a fascination with the shared human experience and how deeply similar our underlying struggles truly are. Through that process, I fell in love with trauma work and found my calling in guiding others through their own healing
journeys, particularly those navigating ADHD and neurodivergence, PTSD, anxiety, panic disorder, and queer identity exploration.
