Hi my name is Eric Durbin. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and U.S. Air Force veteran. My experience includes supporting clients navigating substance use challenges, trauma, relationship struggles, and life transitions. I strive to create a collaborative and nonjudgmental space where you can feel supported in uncovering your strengths, finding purpose, and moving toward the life you want to build. Together, we will work toward healing, growth, and meaningful change, at a pace that honors your unique journey.
My Approach
I use an integrative and client-centered approach that values each person’s unique story, strengths, and lived experiences. My work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I bring a trauma-informed perspective to every session, recognizing how past experiences shape present challenges and resilience. When supporting clients navigating substance use, emotional distress, or relational difficulties, I focus on fostering insight, emotional regulation, and self-compassion. I believe therapy is a collaborative journey where we identify meaningful goals together and build skills that support lasting growth, connection, and balance in everyday life.
My Focus
I support individuals, couples, and families navigating life’s challenges, from relationship and communication issues to the unique struggles that come with substance use and recovery. My work includes helping people find meaning and rebuild trust after setbacks, manage emotions, and foster healthier connections with themselves and others. I have extensive experience guiding clients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma, and I am especially attuned to the needs of veterans and military families, drawing from my own service background. For those affected by addiction, I use evidence-based interventions, motivational approaches, and a compassionate, nonjudgmental perspective to help clients move toward lasting change. My approach is collaborative and tailored to each person’s values, culture, and experiences, ensuring support for healing and growth at every stage of life.
My Communication
Style
Clients often describe me as insightful, honest, and empathetic, with a communication style that balances directness and warmth. I strive to offer clear, straightforward feedback while maintaining deep respect and understanding for each client’s unique experience. My approach blends compassion with practical insight, creating a space where clients feel both supported and challenged to grow. Whether you need a thoughtful listener to help you explore your emotions or a direct partner to guide you toward actionable change, I adapt my style to meet you where you are while fostering trust, safety, and meaningful progress.
My Journey
My path to becoming a therapist is rooted in lived experience and a deep commitment to healing. As someone in recovery and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I know firsthand the courage it takes to face challenges and seek support. My years serving in the U.S. military shaped my understanding of resilience and the importance of compassionate connection, both in times of struggle and growth. Working in inpatient substance use treatment, I witnessed how transformative it can be when individuals are heard, validated, and offered genuine empathy. These experiences inspired me to enter the therapy field, where I now feel honored to walk beside others on their own journeys toward hope and change.
